Every year, the Food Bank works with researchers to try to understand the food needs of low-income San Francisco and Marin residents. This report, called ‘Missing Meals in San Francisco and Marin’ is a look at how we are providing meals to our low-income residents, and how many more meals we need to provide in order to meet all the need.
Specifically, this research analyzes the number of meals that are provided by the non-profit sector, the number of meals that are funded through state and federal nutrition programs, and the number of meals that are purchased by individuals and families through their own resources. These numbers allow us to see how many meals are still missing.
