To support those needing food assistance, the Food Bank has opened a number of Pop-Up Pantries throughout San Francisco and Marin, supplementing the distributions already run by partners.
Many partners closed during the pandemic, and though some have remained open or are reopening, both Pop-Up Pantries and Partner Pantries could use volunteer support. Signing up for a Partner Pantry opportunity means that a Food Bank staff person will not be present when you volunteer; you will be working directly with the partner.
Please note: Pop-Up and Partner Pantry opportunities are a very fluid means of distribution. The length of your shift may vary from week-to-week depending upon participant attendance and other factors.
Volunteer roles may be different at each Partner site, but in general, you will be asked to help set up, build grocery bags, distribute food, check-in participants, manage the line, clean up, and fulfill other tasks that may arise.
Partner Pantry masking guidelines may differ from the Food Bank, so please be sure to adhere to their rules. We recommend bringing a mask regardless of your vaccination status, as they may be required.
