CalFresh is a nutrition assistance program for individuals and families. Formerly known as food stamps and known nationally as SNAP, CalFresh benefits are deposited monthly on an EBT card, which works like a debit card, to purchase food at your local supermarket, grocery store, or farmers market. As of June 1st, people who received SSI/SSP are eligible to apply for CalFresh. Our CalFresh Outreach team is ready to assist you with your application today!

UPDATE: Due to the federal government shutdown, CalFresh benefits are delayed for the month of November. With the help of a local foundation, Crankstart, and in partnership with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, Mayor Daniel Lurie and the San Francisco Human Services Agency (SFHSA) are giving a one-time prepaid grocery card to San Francisco CalFresh households. This aid will help people buy healthy food and reduce financial stress during this time. Find out more here.
New CalFresh applications will continue to be processed. CalFresh reports and renewals will still be due. If you need help to apply or to renew your CalFresh benefits, our team can help you! Please call us at 415-824-3663.

If you are a senior, or an adult (18 years old or older) with a disability who is low income, you may qualify for home-delivered groceries. Additionally, if you are currently pregnant, or a parent with a child or children under 12 months of age, or a parent of a child or children (17 years of age or younger) with cognitive or physical disabilities whose care makes attending a weekly food pantry difficult, you may also qualify for grocery delivery.
